Nikita "Icky" Rubin
Born: 2003
Died: 2011
Nikita was a crazy aka psychotic dog. I found her at a wannabe animal shelter in West Phoenix. The animal shelter was actually someone's home but had her and several cats in a collection of home-made crates, several reptiles, and a number of birds in cages. Oh and there were chickens wandering around in the back yard. Poor Nikita had evidence of ticks... lots of ticks. I truly hated that place. Initially she was extremely timid around me. While she was not the dog I was looking for, I simply could not fathom leaving her in that terrible place. As such I paid the price and took her home.
This dog bonded to me like no other dog I've ever seen. It was readily apparent that I was her property... period! She tended to be somewhat standoffish over sharing the house with Boris but ultimately developed a tolerance for him. Over time it became obvious that she had been badly abused as a puppy. She had a dislike for women... all women.
Later in life she developed Cushings Syndrome and apparently chose to leave us while I was on a business trip to Denver..
